CONS 507 Planning and Design in Urban Conservation Final Jury

The studio "CONS 507 Planning and Design in Urban Conservation" aims to develop conservation, management, and sustainable development strategies for historic settlements through a holistic approach that addresses their natural, spatial, cultural, socio-economic, legal, and administrative contexts.

For the Spring Semester of the 2025-2026 Academic Year, the historic settlement of Taraklı was selected as the studio case area. Based on the field research, documentation, analysis, and assessment conducted by the students throughout the semester, proposals for conservation-oriented planning and management have been developed.

Within the scope of the course, documentation, analysis, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)-based assessment studies were carried out in Taraklı, where a Digital Center has been established through the "Villages of Tomorrow" project, implemented in collaboration between Trendyol, United Nations Development Programme> Türkiye, and the Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry. These studies resulted in practical and implementable projects and proposals aimed at safeguarding and strengthening the area's cultural heritage values while supporting the spatial dimension of sustainable development.

The Final Jury of the "CONS 507 Planning and Design in Urban Conservation" studio will be held on Thursday, 2 July 2026, between 10:00 and 18:00, at Kubbealtı, Department of Architecture, Middle East Technical University.
